HomesFund has been helping families achieve home ownership in Southwest Colorado since 2008 in three steps:

  1. Take a course: Their free homebuyer education classes are a great way to start on the road to homeownership.

  2. Visit with a Homeownership Advisor: HomesFund provides a free home ownership assessment to help you determine if homeownership is right for you, what steps to take next, and answer any questions you may have.

  3. Receive Mortgage AssistanceBuying a home in southwest Colorado is expensive! Once you are prepared to purchase your home, they can assist you with down payment assistance and several mortgage products offered.

Colorado Housing and Finance Authority (CHFA)

CHFA strengthens Colorado by investing in affordable housing and community development. They offer financial resources to strengthen homeownership, affordable rental housing, and businesses.

Homeownership-Through their statewide network of approved lenders, they offer ​home purchase loans and grants; and second mortgage loans for down payment and/or closing cost assistance. They also sponsor free homebuyer education across the state in English and Spanish to help prepare you for homeownership.​

First Southwest Bank Rental Assistance Program

Need help with first, last and security for a new rental lease? First Southwest Bank is here to help with a Micro-Loan! The La Plata County Workforce Rental Assistance Program offers low-cost, fixed-rate micro-loans of up to $5,000 to cover first month’s rent, last month’s rent and/or a security deposit for eligible La Plata County renters.

Loan Terms:

  • $5,000 Maximum Loan Amount
  • Unsecured (no collateral required)
  • 2% Annual Percentage Rate*
  • Payable over 3 years with monthly principal and interest payments
  • *$5,000 loan amount @ 2% Annual Percentage Rate: 36 monthly payments of $143.22
  • No associated fees or pre-payment penalty
